For a smooth, wrinkle free, supple skin, it is very important to get a facial done at least once a month. It is not necessary to always go to a beauty salon for a facial. Summer is the time to give your body the healthy tan and protect it from the horrors of sunburn, baked and dry lips and even sun-scorched skin cancer!. There are some makeup disasters that can happen in summer sun and a relaxing beach noon that we do not pay adequate attention too. Drik lots n lots of water. It your water intake is about 5-6glasses of water then increase it upto 10-12 glasses of water. Sunglasses protect your eyes but do not stop the sun from tanning the rest of your face, resulting in eyes with paler skin around it than the rest of the face. To avoid this, generously rub sunscreen with SPF 30 with a broad spectrum over your entire face. Use gel on your hair and use only the fresh razor with triple blades to shave bikini line to avoid any unsightly rashes.
People have been misled into thinking "natural" indicates good and safe and that preservatives are always bad. In fact, there are many "natural" poisons and preservatives in cosmetics that actually make them safer to use. That doesn't mean someone with sensitive skin might not have a bad reaction to the preservatives in a cosmetic. But generally preservatives kill or at least inhibit the bacteria, mold, viruses, and other nasty things that might otherwise thrive in our cosmetics. Commercial preparations usually contain some preservative to make these products safe for use. You can also find very high-end cosmetic formulations that are packed in sterile capsules to do away with, or at least minimize, the need for preservatives.
Cleanliness is important because dust particles get stuck in the pores of the skin. Use eyeliner pencil of slate gray, warm chocolate or navy shades with a light hand. Use gel on your hair and use only the fresh razor with triple blades to shave bikini line to avoid any unsightly rashes. Warm blond and naturally medium brown hair with highlights may acquire coppery shades in sun due to oxidation.Hair color gloss can help you to achieve the shine again. Warm, sunny, bright blush can be used. Wear only natural nude shades as lip colors while going out to the beach. Moisturizer is key to keeping skin from losing its suppleness -- even if it is hot and humid. Light shade of bronzer on cheekbones and chin gives you a beautiful suntan.

2007 Hair Styles
The hottest 2007 hairstyles come in a variety of lengths, colors and textures. Long or short, curly or straight – all these 2007 hairstyles work for today’s trends when styled correctly. This year the sexy and sleek straight look is very popular. The messy and tousled look on medium length hair is another sexy look for 2007. Another 2007 hairstyle growing in popularity is the soft and wavy look.
The asymmetrical bob is one of the hottest short haircuts this season. However, this cut has been updated for 2007 with more long layers and fringe in the front and short, soft layers in the back. This popular 2007 hairstyle is very versatile as it can be worn smooth and straight for a refined and polished look. For a younger, sexier look, use a bit of pomade to tousle the hair creating a wind blown, wavy look. Although short, this 2007 hairstyle provides women with a variety of options when styling.
In order to achieve these options when styling, it is important the hair’s texture is created just right when cut. The key to such versatility is layers and soft edges through razor cutting. Wild and sexy looks such as Meg Ryan’s is accomplished through this trendy and innovative technique. The use of great styling products such as sculpting gels and waxes on this 2007 hairstyle separates and holds layers in place, creating the chunky and wind blown look. For the smooth and sleek look, layers should be blown dry to lay flat against the face. To keep hair smooth and shiny while combating frizz at the same time, smoothing gels should be used to finish the look.
First and foremost though, a healthy head of hair is the most important thing. No matter how you wear your hair – curly, wavy or straight – a healthy shine is the most appealing part. For all 2007 hairstyles this season, a shine enhancing product is a must have.
Experimenting with the color of your hair is a great way to transform or update a look. The color red is a bold and attractive choice and is definitely a trend for 2007 hairstyles. Any and all shades of red are popular from deep burgundy to strawberry blonde to copper hues. Reds are becoming so popular this season that women are choosing red shades of hair over traditional blondes.
When wearing the short, layered look, color highlighting is a great way to enhance the look. Chunky blocks of color highlights throughout a short and tousled style is a fun and easy way to get the hottest of 2007 hairstyles.
Anything goes this season for 2007 hairstyles for both men and women. Besides the short and layered bob, another popular short haircut is to have the hair shaved in the back and a bit longer on top. This hot hairstyle is a bit bolder and has been seen recently on celebrity Ellen Degeneres. For women still attached to their long hair, the wavy and wind blown look is in for 2007 hairstyles. This style can most easily be accomplished by spritzing the hair with salt water as the salt brings out the hair’s natural wave. This combined with scrunching the hair while it’s still damp will give you this very popular 2007 hairstyle, as seen on Shakira.
For men, short, shaggy and ‘just got out of bed’ look is in for 2007. With a messy and unstructured cut, this style can be maintained by washing hair at night, sleeping on it and then waking up ready to go. This natural messy style is very popular this season. It is not recommended to wash this 2007 hairstyle on a daily basis as it will decrease the hairs natural shape and look flat.
For men desiring a cleaner look, short and textured cuts with structured lines is also popular for 2007. This is a more controlled style that requires little effort for styling, however, the texture in the cut will keep it looking trendy and stylish. For men willing to go bolder in 2007, warm hair tones and highlights are very exciting for 2007.
Overall, 2007 hairstyles are coming in all shapes, sizes and colors. Take risks and have fun with your hair. Anything goes for 2007 and the key to updating or creating a new look is to talk with your stylist about what is best for you. Take time to look through celebrity photos of 2007 hairstyles you like, styles which compliment the shape of your face and skin tones. The styles mentioned above are just a few of the hot styles popular this season. Feel free to tailor these or other styles to your personal taste and style.

Haircut Tips for Women Over 50
Do you look as old as you feel? Ageing is a part of life, instead of rebelling against nature; embrace this time, remember life is short. There are however many ways in which you can change or alter your appearance gracefully, but let’s have a look at how you can achieve the perfect hairstyle to defy your age.
The first thing most women over fifty tend to do is chop off their hair and color it a darker shade to cover the gray, but should you do the same? The smart money says - No, you can have long medium or short hair, because a fifty year old woman can look just as good as a twenty year old with the same hairstyle. Natural looking highlights can alter your look drastically, lightening and lifting your face.
The most important aspect of a new style revolves around taking your facial shape into consideration and determining what features you want to accentuate or hide away. Hair becomes dry and limp so be sure to deep moisturize your hair regularly, making it shiny and full of life.
If you have fine lines and wrinkles, soften them by adding layers around the face. It is strongly recommended to add layers if you have long hair, it will lift your face. Layers will add body and volume to your hair. Expression lines on the forehead can easily be covered up by adding bangs, try side swept bangs as they will add softness and generate a chic edge to your hairstyle. Remember bangs can be added regardless of the length of your hair.
Perhaps you want to hide your neck area and have longer cut layers which will divert attention. You don’t need to hide everything though, if you have beautiful eyes, accentuate them with bangs skimming the brow area. Some soft layers may highlight lovely cheekbones. If you want to show off your neckline have a shorter bob haircut.
Often people advise you to have a picture of a hairstyle you like. Remember to focus on the haircut rather than on the person sporting it. Technology can also be very helpful, some of the latest software programs online allow you to upload a current photo of yourself and try out numerous different hairstyles.
If you haven’t changed your hairstyle in the last few years – now is the time; outdated styles definitely give away your age. Stay current; be daring and young at heart. Remember you are as old as you feel.

Beauty Tips for Women Over 50
Beautiful skin, a beautiful body and a beautiful sense of style does not have an end once you hit 50s. There’s very little difference between the recommended diet and exercise habits for a 20-year-old and that of a 50-year-old. In fact, the only difference is that a healthy diet and regular exercise are more important than ever. During the aging process, the key to keeping your body properly functioning and in shape is to eat healthy and stay active.
At 50 and older, most adults are still capable of completing most exercises. Exercising can mean taking daily 40 minutes walk with your partner or alone, enjoying exercise videos at home. Botox injections can ease wrinkles in the upper third of the face. Chemical peels are effective in removing fine lines and smoothing skin, especially around the eyes and mouth. Wrinkle fillers can plump up your skin and erase lines.
Women over 50 usually look better with a cream lipsticks rather than a matte or gloss and in a pinch your lipsticks can double as a blush. Lips tend to lose definition and color, and become thinner with age. One of the great makeup tricks for aging skin is using a neutral lip liner to add plumpness with a sheer lipstick to avoid feathering (we like berries and browns). Use a lip liner to help define lips. Try a lip liner whose color is very close to the natural shade of your lips and both line and fill in the lips with this pencil prior to using your lip color. Carry a stash of different lipsticks in daring shades in your purse for different occasions, outfits, and moods. Use makeup to accentuate your positive qualities and make yourself feel great.
Women Over 50 and Beauty Tips
1. Using heavy makeup and powders does not compliment dryer skin.
2. Heavily powdered skin will make your skin look matte and dry.
3. Just as the pigment in our hair changes and it turns grey, the melanin in our skin changes also.
4. Don't give into the idea that you have to own every new color that is fashionable for a particular season.
5. Use a humidifier. Use moisturizing soaps and lotions.
6. Good nutrition helps the body repair skin.
7.Drinking lots of water helps hydrate skin from the inside out.
8. Use products with SPF 15 or higher, and both UVB and UVA protection.

Best Beauty Tips For A Healthy And Natural Look
'Beauty is skin deep', so goes the good old saying. But, that does not rob the charm of enhancing your looks. So, hey there, beauty conscious, there's just no harm in having some of the best beauty tips up your sleeves. For looking and feeling beautiful is a sign of health and happiness. And in an age where looking good spells confidence and success, it's vital that you have the best beauty tips handy.
Pamper Your Body
The first secret to true beauty is a natural body glow. Try a refreshing exfoliate with a homemade mix of olive oil, sea salt or sugar. Dry brushing your body, preferably with a natural bristle brush before a bath. It helps to stimulate the glands.
A Little Thought for your Eyes, Hands and Feet
- Moisturise your hands and feet regularly. Don't forget to file your nails and apply nail polish.
- Free your eyes of the tired look simply with a spoon. Keep it in the fridge and apply to the eyelids.
- Once you have ensured a healthy body, be in fashion with the best make-up tips.
Magic of Natural Make-Up
The secret of smart make-up is to keep it natural. But often unhygienic and wrong use of make-up causes harm. Here are the best beauty tips to avoid a make-up mess:
- Eye care: To ensure healthy eyes change your mascara every three months, eye shadows every six to twelve months and sharpen your eye pencil regularly
- Mascara basics: To avoid mascara smudging, apply a thin layer to the top lashes only and then use an eyelash brush
- Natural glow: A gel blush or cream gives a more natural look than a powder
- Brow beauty: For a natural look, eyebrows must not look pencil thin. Use a definer for extra volume.
- Eyeliner tips: Use liquid liner instead of a pencil, to avoid smudging in the crease of the lid
- Foundation fashion: While choosing a concealer or foundation, check the shade on the palm side of your wrist. It tells whether the shade would look natural on you.
Haute Hair Tips
A homemade hair pack is better than shampooing. Natural stuff like apple cider vinegar keeps shampoo toxins at bay. The right hairdo makes the correct fashion statement. Always discuss your face shape with your hairdresser, to decide on a style
Do's 'N' Don'ts
Common beauty blunders arise from ignorance. Here are the best beauty tips to be better informed:
- Avoid soap and switch to natural cleansers
- Wash your face often
- Use an eye cream regularly
- Drink lots of water
- Never forget a sunscreen
- Use natural beauty packs
Mind Matters
Last but not the least; you just can't glow unless its heart felt. So, the best beauty tips include doing something you enjoy whenever you can. Always take a break, chat with friends, forget your worries, set your mind free and just watch the wonders.

Skin Care - Use antioxidants to prevent acne
Acne treatments and so called acne solutions can sometimes be disappointing. The fact is the skin is the largest organ of the body and it and it needs proper nutrition to function properly. One thing is for certain we are what we eat and our health position is generally a reflection of our diet. That being said, it is well documented that there are some particular vitamins and minerals that are powerful antioxidants that flush out free radicals and toxins from our body. Some even have antibacterial effects and will promote immunity. It should however be stated that and overdose of a vitamin or mineral can be toxic to the body and is not recommended by the general health profession.
The four key players in the formation of acne are:
excess sebum under the control of androgens
plugged pores or follicles
bacteria and inflammation.
Having an acne problem myself, as an adult I personally know how tremendously embarrassing and burdensome this problem can be. At this point, I fully believe in a holistic approach to acne treatment i.e. utilizing a three-step topical treatment and implementing those vitamins & minerals in the diet that are beneficial to the proper functioning of the skin. I mean treat the acne on the outside and on the inside. Below is a summary of my findings that I hope could be usefully in your battle with acne. Sometimes, all the body needs the right nutritional balance to heal it self, these methods typically work within four weeks.
Antioxidants serve as a skin barrier to prevent free radicals from penetrating the living dermal layer. The highest concentration of antioxidants in the body is found in the outermost layer of skin, the epidermis. As we age, the concentration of antioxidants in the epidermis starts decreasing considerably. This is one reason that skin starts showing signs of damage. Antioxidants on their own will not treat acne, but they are a step in the right direction.
Some of the well-known antioxidants are vitamin E, vitamin C, vitamin B, vitamin A, and the minerals zinc, chromium and selenium. All these antioxidants help in the prevention and treatment of acne, preventing the free radicals from harming the skin and immune system, which helps in acne flare-ups. Other steps that I have employed personally include:
The application of HONEY 1-2 times per week to the face - Honey has natural antibacterial properties. It has been well documented by many experts that it is great for disinfecting and healing minor blemishes. It is also very gentle on sensitive skin.
Using a three step regime as recommended by your dermatologist
Washing affected areas twice a day with sulfur based soaps specially designed for acne is highly beneficial. Sulfur is useful in acne medication and problem skin treatments, since it helps to kill bacteria on the skin, which results in an improvement in acne. Sulfur is also an effective treatment of inflammatory pimples and acne lesions. Washing at the affected area first thing in the morning and before bedtime is with a product containing this component can prove over time to be effective. However, as a caution it should be noted that over washing will actually stimulate the sebaceous glands to produce more sebum, which would only increase the acne problem.
Remove dead skin cell and excess oils by cleansing with an alcohol-free toner. This will unplug pores.
Finally apply a product with 2.5% benzoyl peroxide to heal blackheads and blemished and help prevent future breakouts
Keep your hair off your face – Try to keep hair off the face, hair contains oils and will contribute to your breakouts. You will also want to wash your hair everyday especially after workouts.
Take a potent MULTI-VITAMIN - Acne indicates that something is not functioning properly on the inside.
Include CHROMIUM in your diet – As added benefit chromium is well known for WEIGHT LOSS. However it has been proven that it is also excellent for healing infections on the skin. A chromium supplement once a day will help heal your pimples quickly and prevent future breakouts.
EAT CARROTS for beta-carotene (VITAMIN A) - Vitamin A strengthens the protective tissue of the skin and actually prevents acne. The way it works is it helps reduce sebum production. This vitamin is essential for the maintenance and repair of the tissue which the skin and mucous membranes are made of. Vitamin A is also a powerful antioxidant needed to rid your body of toxins. It has been proven that a deficiency in VITAMIN A can cause acne; this might be one of the first things to check.
Avoid wearing makeup – I think the main problem is leaving makeup on your face for long periods and wearing very heavy cover up make up daily. This type of activity is counterproductive. Yes we want our skin to look flawless but we also need to solve the acne problem. Maybe the compromise is to wear light makeup for everyday use and leave the heavy applications for special occasions.
Drink - Water is nature’s cleanser. Drinking water is essential for clean skin and overall good health. Water rids the body of waste; its importance cannot be overemphasized.
Do not pick or squeeze your blackheads and pimples - These actions, actually increases the sebum production.
Wash your pillowcase every other day – You rest your face on your pillowcase every day, during your sleep your pillowcase absorbs the oils from your skin and reapplies the dirt and oil. This causes acne; therefore washing your pillowcase frequently will help.
Eat foods rich in zinc - Zinc is an antibacterial agent and a necessary element in the oil-producing glands of the skin. A diet low in zinc can actually cause acne. Studies has shown that zinc and omega-3 fatty acids help to alter your hormone metabolism. I have found that getting 3 grams of fish oil or 30 to 50 milligrams of zinc a day; zinc should be taken in a 10-to-1 ratio with copper.

Wrinkle creams: Your guide to younger looking skin
The smelly parts of a fish may soon become important beauty ingredients. This was revealed by scientists at the National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research (NIWA) who said that fish waste could hold the key to a wrinkle-free future.
That’s not saying you should collect leftover fish parts, grind them to a paste, and rub them all over your face tonight. Researchers say it doesn’t work that way. But they think that fish skin, liver, gills, eyes, and other fish waste may soon make their way to cosmetics counters everywhere.
That may sound fishy but researchers found that fish waste has the ability to penetrate skin cells and prevent wrinkles from forming. The basis for their optimism is a five-year-old study involving no less than 150 different species of fish.
While looking into the ability of fish parts to affect skin cells, they discovered that the yuckiest parts of the fish actually have skin-regenerating properties. Skin cells that were exposed to these smelly fish parts lasted longer and aged slower.
"They don't act like ordinary UV protectants for example, which primarily put a layer over the top of your skin, but seem to actually get into the cells and actually protect from within the cell," said NIWA’s Dr Vicki Webb.
Because of these encouraging results, fish waste will soon be added to skin creams in France for human testing. Department store beauty personnel are already brimming with enthusiasm and excitement as they prepare for this fishy revolution in skin care.
“It's probably one of those products that people will come and try and if they find it works for them they will continue to purchase it," said Gary Nicholson of the Kirkcaldie & Stains department store.
Those who are open to experimentation might be bold enough to apply the fish parts themselves but NIWA cautioned against this, saying not all parts are good for the skin.
“Don’t try this at home,” researchers said.
For now, you can avoid wrinkles by limiting your exposure to the sun’s deadly rays, using a good moisturizer and sunscreen, stop smoking, and avoiding repeated facial expressions like smiling or frowning. If you can’t wait for fish creams to appear in the market and desperately want to get rid of wrinkles fast, a safer alternative is Dermaxin. This powerful wrinkle fighter contains a host of anti-aging ingredients that rejuvenate and revitalize the skin to give you a healthy glow. Check out http://www.dermaxin.com for details.

Eye Wrinkles - Under eye wrinkles
">Why do we get eye wrinkles?
Wrinkles are usually associated with aging but sometimes wrinkles can also appear due to damage to our skin, such as exposure to the sun. As we get older our skin gets thinner and the collagen levels decrease. Over exposure to cold, heat and sunlight breaks down our levels of collagen.
Everyone wants to look younger, so getting rid of wrinkles is extremely important to many people. There are ways to help keep your skin healthy, like eating plenty of fruits and vegetables, drinking at least 8 glasses of water each day and quitting smoking, but wrinkles can still happen. If you are concerned with a more youthful appearance, there are several ways to reduce wrinkles.
The most natural wrinkle remover is found in almost every home - banana. That's right, a banana. Amazing! Simply mash a small banana until it is smooth and spread on your face. Leave on for about 15-20 minutes and rinse with warm water. Another good tip to remove under eye puffiness and wrinkles is to use milk and almonds. Soak the almonds in milk overnight. Remove the brown skin from the almonds and grind it in the same milk. Rub the thick paste onto your face and later, rinse with warm water. Almonds are another source of vitamin A and milk is a natural skin cleanser.
If you are looking for some natural alternatives to reduce your facial wrinkles, there are many anti aging treatments you can get over the counter. You should look for creams that contain vitamin A, as this helps renew collagen and prevents your skin cells from breaking down. Eating vegetable rich in vitamin A such as carrots and spinach will help. Go in for under eye creams that have extracts of natural fruits to tighten and tone up the skin.
Of course there is always a full facelift. This is a surgical procedure which requires recovery time, pain and discomfort. There are less invasive procedures like thread lifts and laser treatments. Thread Lift is common as they insert a small string under the skin and pull it upward attaching it to the facial tissue. This is a really good option for those who are not sure about a surgical facelift.
Laser treatments are another option if you are looking for non invasive surgical procedures. There are several types of laser treatments, so your dermatologist will help you choose the one that is right for you. Be sure to do your research and then choose the best eye wrinkles reducing option for you.

Anti-Aging and Healthy Life
I walked into the hospital room. She lay on her bed with tubes running from her arms and electrodes taped to her chest. Equipment at the side of the room recorded her heartbeat and blood pressure.
She looked up at me and said, “I know you.” I smiled. She studied my face for a few moments. Finally she said, “Yes, I know you. You’re my son Billy!”
That was my mother about a month before she died. She was 85 years old. She had had Alzheimer disease, the most common cause of dementia.
The chances of having dementia rise as you get older. By age 85, about 35 out of 100 people have it1. After watching my mother I hoped I could figure out how to fit into the sixty five percent who grow old with a strong, active brain.
The Brain’s Functions
The brain is your body’s control center. It controls the autonomic nervous system, those automatic activities such as respiration, digestion, and heartbeat. It controls the somatic nervous system which activates your sense organs and muscles. It also controls conscious activities such as reasoning, abstraction, decision making and thought. It defines your characteristics and personality. Your brain controls every activity in your body.
As you age, your brain begins to function at a slower pace. It also takes longer to rejuvenate. Your lifestyle, as well as other external factors, will affect your brain’s aging process. The good news is there are ways to enhance the power of your brain as time catches up with you. The following are four ways to help slow your brain’s aging process.
1. Live a Healthy Life
The second most common cause of dementia is atherosclerosis, or in simple terms, hardening of the arteries in the brain. This is known as vascular dementia, accounting for as many as 40% of cases. Vascular dementia has been linked to high blood pressure, high cholesterol levels, heart disease, diabetes and related conditions. Most experts feel that treating these underlying conditions can decrease the odds of contracting vascular dementia or, if a person already has it, can slow its progress. These diseases are often accelerated by smoking, excessive drinking and both prescription and recreational drug use.
Smoking is bad for your health. It is also bad for your brain. A study conducted in the Netherlands followed 7,000 people age 55 and older for an average of seven years. During that time, 706 of the participants developed dementia. Smokers were found to be fifty percent more likely to develop dementia than people who had never smoked or had quit before participating in the study.
Alcohol abuse has been linked to15 to 25 percent of all dementia cases2. Alcohol affects the brain directly as a neurotoxin and is the cause of serious long term negative effects on the central nervous system. Alcohol abuse can lead to malnutrition, vitamin deficiencies and can also cause liver damage. Studies show that these can lead to brain shrinkage and brain damage.
Illegal drugs can also cause dementia. Cocaine affects circulation and has been shown to cause small strokes. Heroin, if taken for long periods of time or in older people, can block the neurotransmitter acetylcholine which is involved with learning and memory.
2. Eat Healthy Foods.
As a general rule, good nutrition for the body is also good for the brain. Healthy eating has been shown to reduce the risk of many chronic diseases such as diabetes, osteoporosis, cancer and heart disease. It also increases your chances of living a fuller, longer life.
To function properly your brain needs top quality fuel. A diet that includes five servings of fruits and vegetables a day, carbohydrates such as whole grain breads, pasta and cereals, as well as fats and protein can provide this for you.
Sometimes called brain food, fish is a rich source of unsaturated fat and protein. A study published in the Archives of Neurology3 found that eating fish at least once a week slowed down the development of dementia in elderly men and women. Overall mental function declined at a rate ten percent slower in these fish eaters when compared to peers who did not eat fish as often. Mental function in elderly men and women who ate fish two or more times a week declined at a rate thirteen percent slower than those who did not eat fish.
One final portion of a healthy diet that many people overlook is drinking plenty of fluids. A dehydrated brain doesn’t think clearly. Remember, plain old water is the healthiest fluid you can drink.
3. Exercise Your Body
A study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, consisting of 2257 Japanese-American men between 71 and 93 years old, reported that regular exercise can protect against the development of Alzheimer’s disease. The research from a number of organizations including the Department of Veteran Affairs and the Pacific Health Research Institute, also suggests that it is better to exercise throughout your life rather than trying to make up for an unhealthy lifestyle in your later years.
Exercise helps us feel better both physically and emotionally. It can help improve our self image. It also improves our strength and endurance. It decreases body fat, improves movement to joints and muscles and increases the body’s ability to process oxygen. Regular exercise helps reduce depression while reducing the risks of cardiovascular disease.
What kind of exercise program should you engage in? It depends on your particular likes and your body’s physical condition. If you are over forty five and haven’t exercised in a while, you should check with your doctor before beginning any type of exercise program.
Your exercise program should include both cardiovascular and strength building exercises. Cardiovascular exercises are good for your heart. These include walking, swimming, and bicycling and for best results should be done for at least thirty minutes a day, every day. Strength building exercises build your muscles while helping keep your bones dense, reducing the chance of osteoporosis. This can be anything from calisthenics to weight training.
A favorite exercise of mine is Tai Chi, a combination of slow, circular movements. A study by the Harvard Medical School showed that older women who practice Tai Chi regularly experienced a better fitness boost than walking briskly for three hours per week. The study pointed out that this was due to better oxygen utilization.
Tai Chi can help people suffering from arthritis and even osteoporosis. There is some evidence that indicates that the enhanced mind and body connection resulting from the practice of Tai chi can help protect against dementia and Alzheimer's disease.
Whether it’s Tai Chi or any other type of exercise the most important thing is to just do it.
4. Reduce Stress
Stress increases your heart rate and blood pressure and can lead to stroke. There are two categories of stress. The first type, acute stress, is also known as the flight or fight reaction where the brain produces chemicals that tell the body to speed up, making it perform more effectively. This is the type of stress you’ll experience when another car pulls out in front of you causing you to hit your brakes suddenly. This type of stress is normal and short-lived.
The second type of stress is known as chronic or long-term stress. This stress is abnormal and long lasting. There is strong evidence that this type of stress actually damages the brain. It occurs when we don't let go of stress. Chronic stress increases the release of stress hormones. Studies have shown that these stress hormones can actually kill nerve cells in animals and can probably do the same in humans.
One method of reducing chronic stress is through exercise. Stress can also be reduced through meditation. Another proven method is through hypnosis. Using the visualization process hypnosis can help a person learn to remain calm and relaxed even while experiencing an event that had been stressful to them in the past.
Whatever method of stress reduction you choose, it’s important to remember that taking steps to reduce chronic stress will improve your overall health. It will also help you sustain your mental abilities.

Top 5 Cosmetic Surgery Myths That You Need To Know
With the information overload of cosmetic surgery available today, it is no surprise that there is also just as much misleading and false information out there as well. Whether it’s over the internet, television, friends or acquaintances, it is extremely important to make sure that the information you receive comes from credible and reputable sources. There is a substantial amount of information that is not accurate.
Cosmetic surgery is real surgery and you owe it to yourself to do your research, talk to people who have had cosmetic surgery and make appointments with board certified surgeons in your area.
Myth #1: You can fix anything with cosmetic surgery.
This is heard almost daily by cosmetic surgeons when a patient calls or comes in for a consultation. There are many factors to consider when someone is choosing to under go a cosmetic surgery procedure. The first thing to ask is, “Is the concern of the patient a real fact or deformity?” and “Will their physical limitations and situation lead to an aesthetically pleasing result in the eyes of the patient and the surgeon?” If the answer is no then the reasons why should be addressed. Cosmetic surgery can not give you a “perfect” body, nor can it fix everything. There are physical limitations limited by our own unique individual characteristics.
Myth #2: Breast Implants cause or increase your risk for breast cancer.
The Institute of Medicine found evidence that breast implants do not cause breast cancer or the recurrence of breast cancer. How ever it is still essential to undergo routine screening for breast cancer which includes: self breast exams, mammograms, and clinical breast exams. Just as you would if you didn’t have breast implants.
Myth #3: You can’t breastfeed if you have implants.
According the the Mayo Clinic, breastfeeding with implants is safe. Because breast milk is considered the primary and best choice for babies, the Mayo Clinic also encourages women with breast implants to breast feed if they are able to do so.
Myth #4: Implants need to be replaced every ten years.
Unless you are having a problem or concern then there is no need to do anything. Some patients may have reasons to want to replace their implants however; it is not required. They are man made devices and there is no guarantee as to how long an individual implant will stay intact.
Myth #5: Liposuction can be used as a weight loss tool.
Liposuction is a cosmetic surgery employed to remove excess fat from specific body parts. This surgical procedure is not an alternative to exercise and dieting and should be used only to remove the stubborn fat that does not respond to exercises and diet. Liposuction is not a weight loss method but a method to fatty deposits throughout the body. Generally the fat is removed from thighs, chin, buttocks, love handles (abdomen), breasts and stomach for women and chin, waist, breasts and buttocks for men.

Healthy Skin Care Products and Tips
Organic skin care is one of the fastest growing areas of the beauty industry. It's estimated that by using a range of body and skin care products, the average woman applies more than 200 chemicals to her skin a day. Because it is the one layer of our bodies that people see, having healthy skin is very important. Many people turn to skin care products in order to have healthy and youthful looking skin. There has been recent research that has found that the skin reacts positively various vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants.
Here are a few nutrients that are beneficial in skin care products
Silica is a trace mineral that will make the connective tissues, such as muscles, tendons, hair, and nails, stronger. It is important for healthy skin. If there is Silica deficiency in the body, the wounds of the skin will not heal as quickly. Silica is an ingredient in many good skin care products.
Zinc is a mineral, and one of the most important components of skin that is healthy. Acne may be a result of a zinc deficiency in the body. Zinc also controls the skins production of oil and can control hormones that bring about acne. Many health care products contain zinc, as it is very beneficial to the health of the skin.
Selenium – Selenium can be an important ingredient in skin care products as this antioxidant mineral makes the skin have more elasticity. Selenium will also help prevent skin cell damage with free radicals. Selenium can prevent skin cancer because it protects the skin from the damaging effects of ultraviolet light.
Vitamin C is the only antioxidant that is proven to stimulate the synthesis of collagen, which is essential since your body's natural collagen production decreases as you age. Collagen is considered a person's fountain of youth; it's responsible for warding off wrinkles and fine lines. Studies have shown that vitamin C helps to minimize fine lines, scars and wrinkles.
Vitamin E is another an antioxidant that helps protect the skin form the sun’s damaging ultra violet rays. A combination of Vitamin E and Vitamin A skin care products are very good at preventing various types of skin cancer. Vitamin E also helps with wrinkles and other signs of premature aging in the skin.
The promotion of skin repair and maintenance is how Vitamin A can help your skin. If you have a dry or flaky complexion you should look for skin care products that have Vitamin A as it can help with these skin problems. Vitamin A also helps reduce acne and other skin problems.
Kojic acid is a more recent remedy for the treatment of pigment problems and age spots. Discovered in 1989, kojic acid has a similar effect as hydroquinone. Kojic acid is derived from a fungus, and studies have shown that it is effective as a lightening agent, inhibiting production of melanin (brown pigment).
Cosmetic products require preservatives or bactericides to prevent them from being contaminated. Some of the most allergenic and irritating preservatives release small amounts of formaldehyde, which is an irritant as well as a carcinogen and neurotoxin.
Many skin care products, both natural and from mainstream companies, contain either diethanolamine or triethanolamine (wetting agents), abbreviated on labels as DEA and TEA, and sometimes shown bound to other compounds as in cocamide DEA, TEA or sodium lauryl sulfate. Neither DEA or TEA is carcinogenic. However, if products contain nitrites - often present as contaminants and not disclosed on cosmetic labels -, their presence in cosmetics can cause a chemical reaction - leading to the formation of nitrosamines - most nitrosamines are carcinogenic.

Eye Care Tips: Make Your Eyes Look Healthy and Beautiful
One of the most wonderful things in nature is a glance of the eye; it transcends speech; it is the bodily symbol of identity. Eye is cosidered to be an integral party of one's beauty and we at times completely ignoring taking care of it. Here are few healthy tips which will help making your eyes an asset to you whole of your life.
Some valuable Tips for Eye Care
1) All of us have tendancy of forming dark circles just under our eyes. You can fix these dark circles by putting just two slices of potato over your eyes for 20 minutes. Trust me, you will be glad with the results once you take off the potatoes.
2) Another technique to get rid of dark circles is by applying warm tea bags over your eyes for 15 minutes. This method works too.
3) After having a taxing day, your eyes get tired too like your body and mind. So do make it a point to refresh your eyes. For refreshing your eyes, try squeezing cotton pads out of ice water and place them on eyelids for at least 20 minutes. This will give a soothing effect to your eyes.
4) After regular work hours should be infused with short breaks. During such breaks, better to do a small and easy exercise: "First, blink your eyes several times. While you keep your eyes closed, roll your eyeballs both clockwise and anticlockwise and take a deep breath. Gradually open your eyes while releasing your breath. This exercise lasts for a minute and you can repeat it three times before getting back to work." It serves as a good workout for the eyes.
5) While working for long hours, look at distant objects either in your office or outside. Looking at a distant object and then returning to your task helps your eyes focus better. Try taking such visual breaks for about five to 10 minutes every hour.
6) Other traditional and well known remedy is to place cucumber slices on eyelids while relaxing in hot bath. This will be like pampering yourself to the acme, treating yourself like a queen.
7) To make sure your eye shadow last all day, apply a layer of concealer before applying eye shadow. Add a dash of mascara to your eye lashes to give final touch.
8) Last but not the least, dont forget to take off all the make-up from your face once you go to bed specially from and near your eyes.

Massage Therapy Overview - Part II
In "Massage Therapy Overview - Part I," brief descriptions of some of numerous available massage therapy modalities were introduced. In this article, we'll go a bit more in-depth into a number of other unique bodywork treatments in which individuals might be interested as both a therapy or professionally.
Aromatherapy massage therapy, for example, is quickly gaining in popularity in day spas and salons, as well as in massage therapy clinics. This particular healing art combines various massage therapy techniques like Swedish massage, with aromatic essential oils. Applying essential oils to the body through massage has been clinically proven to reduce stress and relieve musculoskeletal pain; in addition to positively affecting the limbic system, which consequently helps to enhance mental health.
Polarity therapy, another form of massage therapy, is based on energy healing bodywork that integrates diet, exercise and self-awareness. This massage therapy was actually developed during the 20th century by Dr. Randolph Stone, who discovered how touch can affect the human energy field. Similar to "touch therapy," polarity therapy is a unique massage technique that is practiced using light to firm touch methods.
As an anti-aging treatment, facial massage therapy is not only a growing trend for clients, but is also gaining leeway as an instructional program in cosmetology schools, esthetics schools and of course, massage therapy schools. As a beauty treatment, facial massage therapy gives individuals a natural face lift and is also known to help reduce stress and even remove dead skin cells. Eastern facial massage therapy is similar to face reflexology as it correlates particular meridians of the face to other body systems, and is believed to help relieve common health conditions like musculoskeletal pain, among others.
For persons experiencing chronic pain conditions, medical massage therapy might be helpful. In many cases, medical massage therapists have received extensive training in a variety of massage techniques including but not limited to craniosacral therapy, myofascial release, sports massage, Swedish massage, and touch therapy. Depending on your particular health problem, doctors may warrant a visit to a professional massage practitioner who will use one or a combination of massage therapy techniques to help reduce pain and inflammation, and increase overall wellbeing.
Sport massage therapy is yet another common modality taught in massage schools. Along with Swedish massage, sports massage is not only great rehabilitative bodywork for humans, but is frequently used to treat both horses and dogs. Facilitating a system of motions that include stretching, compressing and gliding, sports massage acts as a natural detox method that helps to release toxins from the body, enhances circulation and helps to improve overall physical condition.

Massage Therapy Overview - Part I
Massage therapy modalities are as diverse in nature as leaves on a tree; and subsequently, quite effective in helping to naturally heal common and chronic health conditions. In this article, we are going to discuss some of the more common massage therapy modalities, specific strokes and general health benefits.
One of the widely used types of massage therapy is Swedish massage. Most massage therapists have learned and practice this particular form of bodywork; and utilize four types of touch therapy: Effleurage, Friction, Petrisage and Tapotement. These deep tissue motions are known to relax body tissues, increase blood circulation, and alleviate stress.
Another emerging massage therapy is reflexology. Reflexology is a foot massage therapy based on the theory of meridian therapy; whereby parts of the foot sole are believed to be interrelated to various body systems. Pressure is applied to specific points to the sole to help in healing, and in relieving stress. In addition to foot reflexology, there are a number of practitioners that practice hand, ear and body reflexology as well.
Some popular Eastern massage therapy methods include Thai massage, Acupressure/Shiatsu, and Tuina. Thai massage therapy is a bodywork modality that is based on the Yin and Yang principle of restoring energy balance to the body, and is administered through muscle stretching motions. Acupressure (also referred to as Shiatsu) is a distinct massage therapy that facilitates finger pressure to particular energy channels (meridians) along the body. This massage method is similar to acupuncture without the needles, and is believed to restore harmony to the chi (energy flow) to the body; which, in turn restores health and vitality. Tuina massage therapy is commonly taught in many Oriental medicine programs and is referred to as "Chinese medical massage." In Tuina, various touch methods are used to balance Qi (chi) and the internal organs and body systems.
Myofascial release is a massage therapy that mixes stretches and massage to the fibrous bands of connective tissue (fascia). Gently kneading and softly stretching the fascia, myofascial release lengthens, softens and realigns the fascia; treating an array of health conditions including fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, sprains, rheumatoid arthritis, among others.
Finally, lymphatic drainage massage therapy is specifically used to reduce edema (swelling of the tissues due to water retention). Facilitating gentle massage along the body's lymphatic system, lymphatic drainage (also known as manual lymphatic drainage, MLD) is helpful in stimulating the immune system and improving circulation. This particular massage technique is beneficial to patients who suffer from chronic disease like congestive heart failure and cancer.

The Beauty And Delight Of A Foot Massage
">A foot massage is one of the most delightful things that you will ever experience.
You may have has an exquisite back massage at some point during your life; however, until you have experienced a superior a foot massage then you simply do not know what you are missing. Your feet carry you everywhere you want to go. The stress and strain that is applied to your feet on a daily basis is unbelievable. Your feet deserve the extra pampering you can provide, so the next time that you decide a back massage is just the thing you need, think about getting a foot massage instead.
With the feet, it is easy to get a massage. You can either give your self a soothing foot massage or you can ask your friend or lover to do it for you. A foot massage can also be turned into a sensual event if it is something you are enjoying with your partner. Begin by thoroughly cleaning your feet. A warm soak in Epsom salts, peppermint oil or lavender is the perfect way to get started.
Then dry your feet thoroughly making sure to spend the extra time to dry between each toe. As soon as your feet are dry select a scented foot oil to apply to your feet. Support the foot you are working on with one hand, pour a small amount of oil into your other hand and gently begin to massage the oil into your foot. Of course, this is a lot more fun if your partner will provide this foot treat for you.
Using your thumbs, begin on the top of the foot at the toes and use slow, firm, and stroking motions to move upwards towards the ankle. This movement is a little bit like using your thumbs to knead bread. Remember to vary the pressure that you use as it provides a more enjoyable experience and helps to get the blood flow circulating.
Once you reach the ankles, then retrace your steps back to your toes. Again, using very slow, stroking motions you as are working to provide the delectable foot massage. Pressure applied to the toes should be less than that which is applied to the ankle. Use this same slow action from the toes to the ankle and back again making several passes.
Next, with your hand in a cupped position, gently sit the heel of your foot in your hand. With your free hand holding the top of your foot gently rotate your foot slowly from side to side, then begin to rotate your float clockwise and counterclockwise using slow and deliberate movements.
Repeat these motions several times in order to relax your feet and ankle joints. Remember to use slow and gentle movements so that you do not put additional strain on your joints. It would be awful to end up injuring yourself while trying to enjoy the something as simple as a foot massage.
When you finish rotating the foot be sure to pamper the soles of your feet. The soles of your feet take a real pounding and so the extra attention you can provide will reap big rewards. Beginning at the base of the toes and working towards the heel of the foot use a kneading and stroking motion to provide relief for the soles of the feet.
Taking the time to enjoy a gentle foot massage or to exchange one with your partner is a thing of beauty. It can provide a great deal of stress reduction, it can improve circulation and blood flow to your feet and it can help you to genuinely relax after a long day at work. Your feet have a tough job and after all they deserve a bit of pampering too. A foot massage is something that you really should not live another day without experiencing. Enjoy!

Beauty Basics At Face Value
Last year, more than eight-point-seven-million people underwent cosmetic procedures to enhance what nature gave them, or didn’t. But experts tell us that Americans may be jumping into invasive procedures too quickly.
Despite the media coverage of makeover reality shows, the majority of Americans are not looking for extreme transformations. According to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, most of us want to look better, naturally, with 68-percent preferring a subtle change. And experts agree that looking your best could be accomplished at home for considerably less.
Dr. Linda Franks, a leader in the specialized skin care frontier, says “To get that timeless, healthy look you need to start with an appropriate skincare regime. Taking good care of your skin can stave off fine lines, wrinkles, age spots and even dry skin.”
Where to begin? At the sink! Doctors say whatever your skin type, the key is to cleanse it gently. Avoid hot water and use lukewarm instead, to prevent over-drying. And throw in the towel – traditional washcloths are too abrasive for the face, so use your hands and fingers.
Sixty-eight-percent of women claim to have sensitive skin which means dry, tight, chapped or easily irritated skin. Dr. Franks advises moisturizing regularly and avoiding harsh cleansers with ingredients such as fragrances, dyes and preservatives because sensitive skin is easily damaged and takes longer to recover.
If your skin is dry and easily irritated, don’t wash more than once a day. You may risk stripping the skin of its natural oils. Dr. Franks recommends looking for non-irritating cleansing washes that are soap-free, moisturizers that are light, oil-free, and water-based to help maintain the skin’s natural barrier. Another tip—make sure to choose a facial moisturizer with an SPF of at least 15, which protects against both UVB and UVA rays.
Skin sensitivity may also result from the third most common, non-surgical skincare procedure known as Microdermabrasion. Microdermabrasion is a quick and easy, non-invasive procedure that helps to reveal healthier-looking skin by sweeping away dead skin cells. Dr. Franks reveals that, following the treatment, the best way to avoid irritation is by opting for an ultra-gentle cleanser and moisturizer.
A new clinical study shows that PURPOSE gentle cleansing wash and dual treatment moisture lotion with spf 15 are compatible with this procedure.
How else can you obtain optimal skin health? Here are some other healthy basics to keep your skin looking its best:
Dr. Franks says, “Exercise opens up blood vessels to make skin look healthy and youthful. It’s so important for healthy skin.” Regular cardiovascular exercise increases blood flow to the skin which assists in collagen production. Maintaining muscle mass through exercise can also help anchor and support skin, keeping it taut.
And drink up! At least eight, eight-ounce glasses of water a day are crucial for optimal skin hydration.
So before you sign on for an extreme and expensive makeover, just think back on some simple, beauty basics! You just might like what you see

Useful Tips For a Pleasant and Productive Visit to Your Beauty Salon
Straight Talk about Beauty Salons Situations
1. Why
A visit to beauty salons should be a pleasant, stress free experience. Happily it usually is, but let's create a hypothetical situation. You arrive for your appointment a few minutes late, you're usually warm and friendly stylist seems distracted, hurried and not so friendly. Why this radical personality change? It could be personal problems or a conflict with a co-worker but not likely. Professionals are good at hiding these problems and would never inflict them on a client. It couldn't be your fault you were only a few minutes late, or could it?
2. What You Can Do
A hairstylist's day is run by the clock. Appointments are scheduled at the client's convenience and stylists try to accommodate as many clients as they can without sacrificing the quality of service and the personal attention a client deserves. If things run as scheduled everyone is happy and no one has to be kept waiting. Here's how you can help.
You are on your way to the beauty salon and traffic is heavier than expected. You are going to be late, more than ten minutes. What should you do? Call right away, apologize and tell you hair stylist or receptionist exactly how long you will be. Ask if there is still time to get your service and if not, can you reschedule. Ask if it will be possible to get the haircut if you skip the blow dry, (expect to pay full price).
You simply forgot about your appointment. Call apologize, and offer to pay for you hair stylist's time. If you are a regular client, have a good excuse, and are not inclined to do this all the time, your hair stylist may not accept payment. They may have turned away clients because you had an appointment at that time.
Your hair stylist does your hair the same way every time and hasn't taken the hints that you are ready for a change. When scheduling your next appointment ask for a little extra time for a consultation. Explain clearly that you want something different. Arrive at your appointment on time; with a few pictures of hairstyles that appeal to you, it's a good way to start the conversation. Discuss what you like about each style as well as what you don't like. Discuss how much effort you are willing to put into styling. Your stylist can help you decide what will work for your hair and give you tips on styling your new look.
Your stylist has finished your service and you realize that you really don't like it. Calmly tell your stylist this is not what you envisioned. Discuss what can be done to remedy the situation. You are entitled to have it reshaped or re-tinted at that time. However, if your stylist is very busy and has another client waiting, he or she will be grateful if you consent to scheduling another appointment for correction, fee of charge.

Little Known Secrets Of Beauty Salons
This article was written to answer many of the most frequently asked questions about beauty salons and hair stylists. I hope you find this information helpful. I begin with a story that I'm sure, speaks for many:
I'll never forget how humiliated I was when I walked out of a beauty salon with my embarrassed husband in tow, slinking all the way through a mall just to get to our car and hide.....I couldn't get out there fast enough! I immediately went home and washed my hair out and did it again. Color, cut and styling was a complete disaster! It was my first visit to a new beauty salon. I thought I had asked the right questions such as, "Is there a stylist there with experience working with natural curly hair?" Of course the answer was, "Yes." I learned the person with experience was just out of school and this was her first job.
Have you gone through a similar experience? As a client, we expect to leave the beauty salon with a smile on our face, feel beautiful and be excited about our experience. It is my hope that similar situations can be prevented with a few tips:
- If you admire someone elses hair, ask them the name of their beauty salon and stylist. If not, then
- Is the beauty salon easy to get to from home or work?
- Inquire if the stylists have experience with your type of hair. For example, is your hair long, curly or straight.
- You can find reviews on the internet of beauty salons in your area by zip codes.
- How do you feel when you enter a beauty salon? Are you greeted right away? Is the salon clean and inviting?
- Are the staff dressed appropriately? Do they take care of their hair?
- You can provide pictures of hair styles you like to the stylist. There are also hairstyle magazines in all salons for you to check out.
- Do you enjoy being with your stylist?
- Does the stylist ask you what you would like and offer suggestions?
- Does the stylist discuss shampoos, conditioners or special treatments that would improve the health of your hair?
- Now you're all ready for "the look." Does the stylist give you the information you'll need on how to maintain that style once you leave the salon?
If you can answer most of the questions to your satisfaction, then you've probably found a beauty salon and a hair stylist that will make you look fabulous. If not, get all of your information from the next beauty salon on your list. There is a talented hair stylist waiting just for you!
We have come to the end of my informational article. It's now your turn to take this information and do something with it and then you can have a good hair day! Good luck and thanks for visiting.

How to Evaluate Local Beauty Salon Services
Every woman in the world likes to feel beautiful. Some take measures into their own hands, buying products that they can use at home for hair, skin, and nail care. Others have a favorite hair stylist or manicurist that can help them. And maybe you're one who's actively looking for a new beauty salon - a place where you can go to catch up on the latest hair fashion styles or take your time having someone else take care of you and your outward beauty.
Beauty salons, day spas, and hair and nail care services have all grown in the last few decades as women (and some men) have become more accustomed to feeling and looking good. Many are willing to pay top dollar for services that they otherwise couldn't or wouldn't do themselves, or entrust to a friend. Plus, beauty salon employees value staying current with the latest in fashion trends, and this includes hairstyles. So there are many reasons why you might considering trying out a beauty salon.
In selecting a beauty salon or hair care service in your area, you'll want to consider a number of factors. Incidentally, you can visit http://www.abeautysalonnearyou.com to find the right beauty salon once you're clear about what matters to you.
Primarily, you want to consider factors like how close the salon is to your home, whether they have a clean and up to date store front appearance, and whether the stylists and employees are friendly and considerate. Of course, you'll want to ask about the price of services and take note of whether the service is done efficiently and with courtesy. If you're new to trying out a beauty salon, inquire about their familiarity with a certain look or type of technique that you're interested in trying out. Also, it helps if you can find someone who gets to know you and the styles you might look best in - that way you can come back to them on a regular basis for continual hair and beauty care.
Finding a beauty salon that works for you may take a bit of interviewing and effort. Through the suggestions provided above you'll be able to narrow your focus to those that would best suit your needs.
